Is my parts vendor charging my repair shop twice?

You get dozens of parts invoices a week. You can't check them all. Here's how it played out at our sample shop, the way a mechanic works a car: concern, cause, correction, verification.

1

The concern

Nate's parts bill felt high, but he had 300 invoices a month and no time to check them.

2

The cause

Nolavi matched every invoice to a repair order. Summit Fluids billed the same order twice, Coastline charged $14 over the quoted price on 22 parts, and 3 invoices had no repair order at all.

3

The correction

Nolavi drafted the dispute with the invoice numbers. Nate tapped send.

4

The verification

$186 came back from Summit and $308 from Coastline, and every invoice is now checked the day it arrives.
